First, I was going to make lasagne for supper. Then I decided I didn’t have enough lasagne noodles.
Then I decided to make white chili for supper – a recipe right next to our favorite recipe in one of my Junior League cookbooks. I started by making chicken broth. From scratch. With a whole fryer I got from the grocery store, along with celery and carrots and such. Then I added the beans and everything else.
Well, uh, it has cloves in it. It was fine until I put them in. I should have left them out. But I didn’t. Now, even though I’m hungry, I’m thinking I will have a hard time eating it. It just doesn’t smell right.
So I’m eating the bread I made this afternoon. I’ve snitched three slices so far. It’s soft, moist – really good bread. Couldn’t ask for better. If only my chili had turned out this good…
Homemade bread, with butter, is the best thing ever!
Looks Really good. Sure would like to have a slice!
Oh…that makes my stomach growl.
