Can you see it now?

It’s the Baby Surprise by Elizabeth Zimmermann…a few rows shy of being finished.
I am actually contemplating doing the little bit of seaming before I’m finished knitting so I can finish all of the edges in one fell swoop. That would mean that I would miss out on handing the knitted object to people and letting them figure out how to fold it so that it becomes a real object. Decisions…
I must confess, the whole time I’ve been working on this, it has been slated to give as a gift. After all, people are always having babies, and it’s nice to have things on hand. But when I laid it out like this, a few rows shy of being finished, all of a sudden I’m liking it a whole lot. As in, I might not be able to give it to someone else.
In case you’re wondering, the Baby Bobbi Bear is still on display so that I can admire it every time I walk by. I did [finally] get a box to send it in, so it will be on its way shortly.
Let’s just say, even though I consider myself a process knitter (and thus it’s not as painful to frog things when they go awry), I do savor the admiration phase. Just saying…
