We’re getting ready to put our house on the market so the weekend was spent painting, amongst other things.
Remember the blue wall?
In that picture it’s the same color as it was when we moved in. I love the fabric I made my curtains with, and while the blue wall worked well with them, I’ve been wanting to paint it a better blue for forever. The old color was just a little too turquoise.
My dear mother was all worried that I was going to paint it a different color and ruin the effect. “That wall just makes your living room so bright and cheery.” But it was the wrong blue, and it bothered me. [There were also a couple nicks in the doorway thanks to the guy who delivered our dryer, giving us the extra push we needed to just repaint it.]
Well, here is the new blue. Can you tell a difference? Maybe. Even if you’ve been in our home before, you might not notice. But it’s a true blue now, and it’s a thousand times better. Love it, love it, love it!
And see? It still makes the room bright and pretty. It’s hard to show in a picture, but I really can’t tell a difference in the intensity of the old color and the new. You just glance over there and you know something is different, but not enough that you know immediately what. [Excuse all the displaced stuff from the bathroom cabinet which has taken over the table.]
Last weekend, we had a realtor come over and take a look at the house. One of her suggestions was to paint the bathroom walls sage to bring out the green in the floor. When we moved in, the bathroom walls were painted blue, but it was flat paint, which in my opinion, doesn’t belong in a bathroom. My shower curtain was blue and yellow, so I repainted the walls with blue using paint for bathroom walls.
But sage – I so wish I’d thought of that a long time ago. Mom and I shopped for a shower curtain and new towels and such, and while none of them have been put in the bathroom yet, you can see here that the sage is a very good color with the floor.
We’re hoping to get everything on our list done this week so we can list it early next week. If you know of anyone who is interested in buying a 2+1 bedroom house with a big fenced backyard near Lincoln for around $115K, send them our way. More pictures – including ones of the finished bathroom – coming soon!
I LIKE…
Looks very nice.
I can see the difference in the blue, if I look back and forth between the 2 photos. I’d never have noticed it if you hadn’t pointed it out, tho. And the bathroom…I like that sage. Great idea to match the floor!
Good luck selling the house! Have you already purchased a new one? Did I miss something?
Same question that Alissa posted—where are you planning to move?
Yeah…where are you moving?
Nice work on the blue wall. In a day and age when Earth tones are all the rage, it is nice to see you taking a risk and it working out. Very pretty!
P.S. Jaci and I painted our kitchen BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT yellow.
