In Honor of a Saint
Feb 14th, 2008 by Tana
Have you ever wondered what a saint looks like? It’s Saint Valentine’s Day, after all.
Here’s one for you:
This would be St. Steven. My husband. That’s him watching the boys while they take their bath. It’s one of his favorite activities – can you tell?
One of his favorite line’s is one he got from That 70’s Show where Eric’s dad tells him, “Son, you’re a man now. That means you gotta spend your time doing stuff you don’t wanna do.” Or something like that.
My husband talks occasionally about the difference between women who are wife material and those who are just girlfriend material. [He’ll tell you I’m wife material, of course.]
Not to say that Steve isn’t fun to be around. He is. I love his jokes. He’s fun to watch football games with…and baseball…and basketball. Going on a date with him is just fun – there are all sorts of interesting things he enjoys doing. The conversation is great, too.
But he has qualities that make him good husband material as well. He has places he wants to go – he doesn’t just settle for mediocre. He picks up after himself (and after me, too, which sometimes is kind of annoying, but I don’t complain – it could be the other way around). And when presented with things that he needs to do but doesn’t necessarily want to do, he does them anyway. Now that’s character.
So Happy Valentine’s Day one and all! May you have as much to celebrate as I do.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you, too! I also have a husband that will give the boys a bath…and help with homework and read bedtime stories and many other things that he doesn’t WANT to do. Isn’t it nice? Of course, he’s rarely here, but when he is it’s wonderful to not HAVE to do these things.
I have really enjoyed reading your blog! Glad I found you over in Ravelry in Knebraska Knitters! Think your hat is beautiful, too. The wooden highchair fastinates me, I absolutely think it’s BEAUTIFUL! I look forward to your future posts. 🙂
